Moving to Austin Texas after Memorial Day

I should start this post by saying "We are not really moving to Austin... Yet!"  I need to back up and explain where this idea started.  We don't have to go back far, just back to Memorial Day weekend.

If you didn't know, Terri and I were married over Memorial Day weekend in 2011.  It was the best time for our families to get together for this event.  Since we are both photographers, and after shooting many weddings, we decided for an early morning ceremony on the beach.  In fact, we were back on the waves by 1pm so my girls really enjoyed it.  If you are brave enough, I'll post our wedding video from the talented Paul Houston at the bottom of this post - after all the images.  Click at your own risk.  Ha,ha,ha

Having an anniversary on a holiday weekend sounds like a great idea, but these dates are the most requested for weddings.  This year, our big number five, we opted to booked ourselves a little trip instead of helping another couple with their big day.  That's how we wound up in Austin, Texas.

Austin is a beautiful eclectic center of creative madness, overbearingly canine friendly and the food truck capital of the world.  Of course, that's what everyone told us long before we decided that would be our destination over the weekend.  Terri and I had no idea that statement is so true!  There is a vibe in this town that is immediately noticed to outsiders, almost to the point of no belief.  After three fun and food filled days in Austin, we are hooked and are excited we finally agreed on one location for retirement or at least much more exploration.  I'm positive that when I die, there will be no need to route me through Dallas on my way out of this world. If you live long enough in Oklahoma, you know what I'm talking about. LOL

It would be a much longer post to describe everything we did, ate and shot.  We will let some of the images we captured tell some of the story.  We would be sad if we didn't mention we shot with an amazing model Sara Diane and visited with fellow photographers Mandy Lea, Lance Taylor and Linda Bauer.  Follow these professionals for an insight into Austin and exploring the world around you through creative images.

Special Thanks to Paul Houston talents making us look like we are cool. ;-)
